- A2BL: An Adaptive Behavior Language: an ongoing
project to integrate machine learning into a Turing-universal
language. This is joint work with Michael Mateas.
- Adaptive Believable Agents: a set of applications and ideas for
building autonomous agents that live in rich virtual worlds and
interact with humans. This is joint work with Michael Mateas.
- Asynchronous Reasoning and Learning: an architecture for
integrating reasoning and statistical machine learning. The system is
being applied to equipment diagnosis and prognosis.
- The Association Engine: a system to bring together and expose your
personal interests without getting in your way.
- Cobot: an agent that lives in a virtual world,
and learns to modify its social behavior based on observation and
feedback.
- Ferret: a system for allowing individual users to
understand the typical behavior of their personal computing devices
so that they can discover when their systems have been
compromised. This project is mainly driven by Jeff Pierce.
- IshMail: an
extensible email system, designed for the true power user. This system
is in acutal use, and I can't personally live without it, but it is
also designed to be a real research platform.
- The Parallel
Problems Server: a large scale linear algebra server. This work
ties in neatly with a series of projects I am working on to scale
interesting machine learning algorithms to incredibly high-dimensional
spaces.
- Personalized Adaptive Control: systems
that automatically discovers a user's common tasks, predicting
the task that the user wishes to engage in, and generating an
appropriate interface that spans multiple devices.
- SWIMM: a music player that learns an
individual's listening habits and creates both playlists and
personalized radio stations. SWIMM uses a novel technique
to deal with the otherwise intractable representation and generation problem.
- Unidad: a set of applications and middleware for providing the
illusion that a user's data is available on every device she owns
whenever she needs it. This is joint work with Brian Cooper and Jeff
Pierce.
- Words and Verbs: a set of applications that try to extract
meaningful activities from video.
